Apple Cider Hot Toddy

Locke + Co. Apple Cider Hot Toddy

Warm and cozy, this Apple Cider Hot Toddy is perfect for sipping on my the fire this holiday season. You can use hard apple cider for a strong treat!

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Locke + Co. Aspen Aged Rye
  • 4 oz apple cider
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoon honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Preparation

  1. Combine the apple cider, lemon juice, honey, and cinnamon stick in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-low heat, then reduce heat and simmer for about five minutes.
  3. Remove from heat, stir in the whiskey, and serve immediately.

Notes

Look for unfiltered apple cider if you can find it. It has a lot more apple-tastic flavor to it!

To make this for a large crowd, use the following measurements: 1/5 bottle of whiskey, 1/2 gallon of apple cider, 1/4 cup lemon juice, 2/3 cup of honey, and 4 cinnamon sticks. Makes 16 drinks. Keep simmering on the stove with a ladle and mugs nearby, or pour all into a slow cooker, and let cook on high for two hours before serving.

Owen Locke Inspires Colorado's Entrepreneurs at Denver Startup Week

Our Co-Founder inspired and engaged a room full of entrepreneurs at Denver Startup Week in October.

Our Co-Founder (and namesake), Owen Locke, had the chance to join a panel of experts at Denver Startup Week last month, to discuss the importance of entrepreneur-mentor relationships.

The session, titled “Who Needs a Mentor? You Do!” encouraged local entrepreneurs to act like Enterprise-level Executives who often rely on the experience of outside advisors to help them tackle business challenges.

Why shouldn’t entrepreneurs use the same tactics Enterprise folks use for success? They absolutely should.

Locke + Co Distilling Aspen Age Rye Whiskey next to Ultimate Fall Spiced Sangria

Urban Life Wash Park and Locke + Co Team Up for the Ultimate Fall Spiced Sangria

The holiday season is nearly upon us, and that means you need cocktails; lots of them. This Fall Spiced Sangria recipe is the perfect place to start.

Most folks don’t associate Sangria with Fall (or Winter) in Colorado. But, what most folks don’t know about this intoxicating Spanish beverage, is that Sangria’s name derives from the Latin word for blood (thanks to the hue imparted by the red wine used in its making). It’s the perfect post-Halloween, pre-Thanksgiving beverage to kick your indoor season into gear.

While there are Sangria purists (we appreciate your commitment to tradition!), in 2021, this storied drink might include any number of unexpected ingredients – including Locke + Co Aspen Aged Rye Whiskey.

Whatever your preference, Sangria is the perfect holiday cocktail party drink. It’s easy to mix in batches, and it makes dealing with your creepy uncle easy (every person has one).

That’s why we were thrilled when our friends at Urban Life Wash Park decided to highlight the unique flavor of Locke + Co Aspen Aged Rye Whiskey in their Fall Spiced Sangria recipe.

You’re welcome.

Breaking Bourbon Reviews Locke + Co’s Aspen Aged Rye - Spoiler Alert: They’re Fans

Our Colorado-made and Aspen-aged rye whiskey might have just become Breaking Bourbon’s new favorite juice.

Hand Holding Needle In The Hay Cocktail sitting on a Aspen wood wedge

“Yes, Aspen Aged Rye is young, and yes, it’s finished with Aspen oak discs, but it’s hard to argue with the results.”

– Breaking Bourbon

Aaliyah was on to something when she released her 90s Hip Hop classic, “Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number.”

We understand that in the world of whiskey, age is often important. But there are occasional unicorns, like our Aspen Aged Rye Whiskey; spirits so beautifully compelling they’re impossible to ignore, despite their youth.

We also know we’re producing one of the finest rye whiskeys out there, and now Breaking Bourbon’s readers know it, too.

The Internet’s whiskey experts are Locke + Co fans; shouldn’t you be, too? After all, age ain’t nothing but a number.
